BELGIAN ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY V.V.S. - Working Group Variable Stars Cataclysmic Variables Circular No.118 1996, December 22 Ed.: T. Vanmunster, Walhostraat 1A, 3401 Landen, BELGIUM Internet: tvanmuns@innet.be TEL. 32-11-831504 =================================================================== EG Cnc [UGSU, 11.9v - 17:v] =========================== EG Cnc is living up the expectations ! The object rebrightened considerably after its initial fading, and is now showing another superoutburst. First notice of this rebrightening was given by Taichi Kato, Ouda Observatory, Kyoto University, Japan on VSNET and further commented in a message on December 21, 1996 : "Preliminary analysis of a 4-hour run of EG Cnc tonight has revealed the existence of prominent superhumps with an amplitude of ~0.12 mag. The observa- tion seems to suggest that the present rebrightening is again a super- outburst following a "dip" or a temporary fading after the main superoutburst, apparently tracing the course of the spectacular 1995 outburst complex of AL Com ...". Unfiltered CCD photometry at the CBA Observatory, Belgium, on the night of December 21/22, 1996 (4-hour run) indicates that the ampli- tude of the (super)hump features already has decreased to less than 0.02 mag.
