This book deals with the observing methods for visual observations of variable stars. The techniques to make reliable visual observations are explained together with the required equipment and practical hints for the beginning observer. In the following chapters the reporting and processing of observations is discussed. Among them are calculating the times of extrema, period determination, the calculation of model light curves etc. The last part of the book gives an overview of all kind of variable stars.
